Experience the Craft of Transformation: Mitten Made's Signature Renovation Styles
One of the first questions we ask homeowners is simple: what look are you going for? A lot of people freeze up here, because design styles blur together online. So here's a plain-English guide to the styles we build most in Southeast Michigan homes.
Modern farmhouse. Still hugely popular around here, and for good reason. Think clean shaker cabinets, warm wood, black hardware, and a comfortable, lived-in feel. It suits both older homes and new builds, which is why so many Livingston County families choose it.
Contemporary/modern. Clean lines, flat-panel cabinets, minimal clutter, and a calm palette. Best when you want a crisp, uncluttered feel. The key is adding warmth so it doesn't feel cold.
Transitional. The middle ground, and honestly the safe bet for most homes. It blends classic shapes with modern finishes, so it looks current without chasing a trend that'll date quickly.
Traditional. Detailed trim, raised-panel cabinets, warm and timeless. A great fit for older, character-rich homes near downtown Ann Arbor or Northville.
Here's our honest take: you don't have to pick a label. Most of our favorite projects mix elements to fit the specific home and family. The goal isn't to copy a style — it's to build something you love that fits your house. Not sure where to start? That's what the free consultation is for. Call or text (517) 375-7648.
